NBCC - Peter Joiner Memorial Trophy & Bench

On Saturday 30th June for the 1st XI match v Formby, we are joined by members of the late Peter Joiner's family. During the tea interval, the Peter Joiner Special Achievement Memorial Trophy was presented to the inaugural 2021 winner Seb Botes by Peter's son, Neal. This trophy is for a special achievement on or off the field of play that is not covered by an existing trophy. The winner, who can be either a junior or a senior member, will be decided each year by the Cricket Management Committee.

Seb's fifth over against Birkenhead Park on Sunday 30th May 2021 in the Cheshire Cup, First Round match began with the visitors being strong favourites to win, needing 14 runs with 4 wickets in hand. He took 3 wickets in the over which coupled with a run out off the last ball of the over gave New Brighton victory by 11 runs. New Brighton went on to be Cheshire Cup finalists.

Peter's family have also donated a bench in his memory. It was hoped that the bench would have been in place for the presentation match but it was delayed. The bench was delivered last week and placed in front of the member's bar where Peter used to sit. Neal then came up and added the memorial plaque to the bench.

RIP Peter, you are sorely missed.
