Our first Cup Final since the 2019 Covid Pandemic saw New Brighton Quarry Vikings 'B' team prove too strong  for Poulton at Manor Road Bowling Club last night with a 223-210 winning scoreline. Having to concede a Handicap of 36 to Poulton, the Vikings had 8 winners to Poulton's 4 winners to win the trophy they had last won in 2017.

The first 4 on the green saw 2 wins for each team, with Graham Bunting and Margie Vickers involved in a good match at number 1 with Graham managing a tight 21-17 victory. Dianne Bibby and John Leece responded with great wins of 21-14 and 21-11 for Poulton  but Bob Leach then produced a fine 21-09 win for Quarry to leave the Poulton side 68-67 ahead going into the middle four.

The middle four saw the current Division Two leaders crucially win all 4 games with Phil Leech 21-07, Trevor Barraclough 21-10, George Roberts 21-13 and Jim Kearney 21-17 after a terrific match against Betty Yates. With the score after 8 matches 151-115 in favour of the Vikings, the handicappers 36 shots for Poulton made the scores level at 151 each going into the back four.

The back four matches provided 2 winners for each team with the New Brighton Quarry Vikings skipper, Rodney Watkins crucially posting a best of the night 21-06 victory. Poulton's Derek McDonald and Quarry's Jamie Kearney then produced a great match that saw Derek finally posting a winning 21-20 scorecard. Harry Robinson then posted a fine 21-10 winning card for Poulton but with Ryan Kearney at number 12, winning his match with a good 21-11 scoreline, the New Brighton Quarry Vikings 'B' team finally had a 223-210 victory on the night to deservably win the Cup.
